Distributor Announcement – Tailwind Nutrition NZ
Over the past 12 years, we have proudly built Tailwind Nutrition in New Zealand from the ground up - nurturing retailer relationships, supporting events, and serving our community with transparency and integrity. Because of this, we want to be upfront about a recent change that affects all of us.
Tailwind USA has made the decision to appoint a new distributor for New Zealand. This outcome was not based on our performance, our relationships, or the strength of the NZ market. Instead, it stemmed from issues within the Australian sub‑distributor arrangement, which was terminated by Tailwind USA. Despite our repeated requests over many years to have NZ and Australia separated - due to ongoing challenges that were outside our control - Tailwind USA chose to treat both markets as one. As a result, we were unfairly impacted by decisions made offshore.
Throughout this process, we were in ongoing communication with Tailwind’s new international manager, who assured us that discussions were progressing positively. Unfortunately, we were misled, later learning that negotiations with another distributor were happening behind our backs. We were informed of the final decision at the very last moment, leaving us blindsided and without the transparency we expected and deserved.
We want to be clear: our loyalty to Tailwind USA, and our commitment to the New Zealand market, never wavered. We have always operated with integrity, and we remain incredibly proud of the community we built together with you - our retailers, our athletes, and our customers. You've been quite simply, the best!
Thank you so much for your support over the years. We've loved the relationships we have made with each and every one of you. The events we've sponsored, the magical memories made, but expect to still see us out there, supporting you in the only way we know how.
We would love for you to continue to purchase from us until we officially close. Stocks are low, especially in regards to the larger bags, but we have sufficient supplies of sticks. We will continue to operate with the honesty, care, and the values that have always guided us.

"When creating this design for Tailwind Nutrition NZ, I wanted to incorporate various elements from our own incredible backyard - Aotearoa.
The Tailwind vortex visually sweeps and moves, transitioning to our native Koru at the centre. The Koru represents eternal movement, connection, strength and growth, and mostly found in nature, where we connect as a community. The Tailwind vortex represents perpetual movement (like a Tailwind at your back) keeping you strong, steady and moving forward.
From our flowing awa (rivers), majestic maunga (mountains) to our wild hau - (tail)wind, especially here in Wellington, we can reflect and take time to recognise and respect the ancestors of this great land while getting to do what we love."

Prior to Tailwind, on long runs or on hot days I'd suffer cramp in my calves and quads, and have to alleviate the symptoms of cramp in place of prevention. Once I switched to Tailwind I've found this is a thing of the past, with a case-in-point of completing my first 100 mile race during a heatwave, and although my feet hurt at the end, the magical properties of Tailwind meant that cramp never made an appearance - Go Tailwind!
